Thank you for your participation at the ANZAC ceremony during our recent school holidays at The Doyalson RSL club. It was lovely to see your reverence and attendance.

Collaborative Coaching
Last term, we had an overall focus on writing simple sentences with correct grammar and punctuation. I shared with you data reflecting student growth in Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3. Today I would like to share with you the data from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.
Year 4
Year 5
Year 6
Below are some writing samples from our littlest people in Kindergarten, learning to write their names and simple sentences. Kindergarten have been learning specific phonemes (speech-sounds) and were asked to transcribe dictated sentences using the correct graphemes (letters):
Last term we also ensured we had consistency across all grades with our SBLM Proofreading and Editing Codes. This term we will continue to build teacher capacity in teaching writing and see our students flourish!
SUPERVISION
Last term and in the past two weeks, I have noticed a large number of students being dropped off on school grounds from as early as 7:30 am. We do not have teacher duties at this time and your children are not being adequately supervised. We understand that at times parents need to get to work or appointments early, however we need to ensure our precious children are being appropriately supervised and cared for. Please ensure you contact the OSHC to organise supervision of your child if you do need to have them come to school earlier than 7:50 am, which is when our active morning supervision begins.
FIRST RESPONDERS DAY
We would like to acknowledge our First Responders and will be holding a First Responders Day on Wednesday, 12 June 2024. We would like to have all of our children dress up as First Responders and will be organising something special for the parents who are First Responders in our school community. Please complete THIS FORM if you are a First Responder.
THANK YOU
We ended up having a significant group of fathers/dads join us to prepare for the Mother's Day Breakfast. We can't thank you enough for volunteering your time (particularly early) to ensure we could thank all the mothers and significant women in our school community.
DOGS AT SCHOOL
Lately we’ve had occasions where parents have brought dogs to school. Whilst the dogs have been on leads and very well-behaved, it has been a directive of Catholic Schools Broken Bay that no dogs are to be on school property unless there is a risk assessment for them and they are therapy dogs. If you do bring a dog on site you will be asked to leave the premises. We hope you can appreciate that we are trying to keep everyone safe. There are signs at the front of the school to indicate no dogs on site.

NCCD
Dear parents, guardians and carers
Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information.
To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy). Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact either Charlene Reid, Jacqui Fletcher or one of our Learning Support Teachers (Lauren Betts, Belinda Brown or Allyse Cresta).
