Newsletter Term 2, Week 4 2023
Principal's Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term 2 Week 4!
I hope all of our wonderful mothers and significant women in our lives had a lovely Mother’s Day last Sunday. We enjoyed having you all at our Mother’s Day breakfast last Friday, open classrooms and beautiful mass to celebrate all you do each and every day.
We celebrated St Brendan’s Feast Day on Tuesday where we saw so many parents, grandparents and relatives helping out with our colour run. I am not sure who had the most fun – the children or the adults!!!!
Thank you to Miss Foskett who organised our St Brendan’s Feast Day mass and guided our staff with our St Brendan focused rotations during the day. This was also a great opportunity for so many parents to be involved, thank you for coming.
I would like to wish our Broken Bay cross country runners who will be competing at Galston on Tuesday 23 May! Our representatives Rain R, Samantha McD, Ella W, Charlotte M.
Next week our Year 6 students will be heading off to Canberra for their excursion. I would like to thank our staff members, Mr Murphy, Mrs Beveridge, Mr Perry and Mr Chandler who will be taking time away from their families to ensure the safety of our Year 6 students. I will also be in attendance and I look forward to an enjoyable excursion with lots of learning also! Excursions are always something children remember from their schooling and it makes it more beneficial when there are no behaviour or safety concerns. I would like for all families to speak to their children about following our expectations to ensure the safety of everyone please that includes no mobile phones are to be taken to camp. We are very accessible at any time and we will contact you if we need to. I am very happy for you to email me any time (Charlene.reid1@dbb.catholic.edu.au) if you are concerned about your child.
Our Winter uniforms are compulsory from Monday, Week 6, 29th May please.
We have entered our first debating team in our debate against MacKillop, Warnervale. This will be held at St Brendan’s on Tuesday, 30th May. Good luck debaters!!!
Thank you to Mr Murphy for organising our chess team. St Brendan’s will be hosting a chess competition, inviting other schools, on Thursday 1st June (Week 6). Good luck to our chess champions!
We are preparing to send out our enrolment acceptance letters for our Kindergarten children 2024. If you are intending to complete an enrolment form for your child, please contact the office for an enrolment form or complete an enrolment enquiry on our website. We will also confirm our transition to school program dates for you to keep these dates in your diary and organise your work commitments.
Our Friday assemblies will now start at 2pm instead of 1.50pm so we end closer to 2.30pm dismissal time. Showcase assemblies Year 4 19th May, Kindergarten 26th May, Year 6 9th June - the showcase assemblies commence at 1.30pm.
I am presently attending the Catholic Principals State Conference. The theme is “New Hope. New Growth”. There are many take aways from this conference including student learning, wellbeing, hope for all and school improvement. This experience has been affirming for me because SBLM is on the right track with a positive forward trajectory and a consistent approach for the good of the staff, families and ultimately our children.
God Bless,
Charlene Reid
